I completely forgot about this blog for awhile! I’ve noticed that I’ll have spurts where I want to write about every idea I have and everything that has happened to me; and then I’ll wind up going months without posting.
How is everyone surviving this COVID nightmare? I’m glad that I still have a job & everything, but I’m really jealous of everyone who is working from home or on furlough! Every day gets harder and harder to get out of bed. The fact that the world seems to have gone batshit crazy doesn’t help anything either. Is it just me, or are people more rude than ever?? I saw something on the news about some barber working during all of this illegally who was diagnosed with covid. He potentially has spread that to dozens of people, all because he felt that he was above the law. Like it or not, these rules are put in place to HELP us…to help stop the disease from spreading even faster. Don’t even get me started on the conspiracy theorists…
I’ve been watching this show lately called The Fosters. It’s a really cute show…although some episodes are so full of suspense it’s ridiculous lol. It reminded me how someday I would love to foster some kids…older ones, who are often ignored in the system. I’ve always said that if one day I ever decide that I want kids I would adopt; fostering seems like a good way to start that someday. SOMEDAY. Not any time soon lol. I’m in no way financially or emotionally ready to take on such a big task.
OH! This isn’t related to anything, but I discovered a way to mass delete comments on Instagram! I don’t know if it’s a new feature or not, but I’ve never noticed it before. When you click on a comment to delete it, there’s three dots next to it. If you click that, there’s an option to delete multiple comments at once! I thought that was pretty cool. Zucchini has been getting a ton of spam messages & comments lately, so it’s a useful feature for me. Do you follow Zu on insta? if not, get to it! http://Instagram.com/zucchinixoxo
Okay, this was a pointless post, but I figured I should write something so that everyone knew I was alive 🤣
The end of the decade is in sight. In the blink of an eye, we’ll be saying goodbye to another year. You’re looking forward to things winding down at work and the possibility to spend quality time with buddies and family throughout the holiday season. You and your buddies have began swapping plans for New Year’s Eve, and — despite the fact that you’re not completely convinced it exists besides to stress you out — you’ve got high hopes for the occasion. Bring on 2020, right?
If you’ve been procrastinating, this is the time to check things off your to do list. I know we say this every year, but let’s make next year our year. No. Really. I’m serious this time.
“Well, we have a whole new year ahead of us. And wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could all be a little more gentle with each other, and a little more loving, have a little more empathy, and maybe next year at this time we’d like each other a little more.” — Judy Garland
1. Build your budget for next year
Don’t wait till after you’ve already celebrated the brand new year to plan your finances for the months ahead. The best time to take care of it is really right now, according to Jesse Mecham, author of ‘You Need A Budget’. Remember the money goals you’d like to fulfill in 2019, then reflect on the way you handled your budget over this past 12 months. How can you change up your behaviors to satisfy those desires?
My financial goal for 2020 is to pay down as much debt as possible.
2. Get your health in order
It’s an easy thing to put off. Even more so if you’re looking after others and have restricted time for yourself. However your health is one area where it’s not good enough to push things off. Schedule the mammogram, go to your dentist, anything you’ve been putting off… simply get it done.
My goal for my health in 2020 is to get the courage to FINALLY get my wisdom teeth out!
3. Declutter Your Home
That is no joke! Professional organizers have shared stories of being called to the houses of messy people, saying that most of them have specific things in common: they are tired, stressed, they cannot get to work on time, they are overwhelmed, nonfunctional, and unproductive. One study determined that physical clutter surrounding you certainly competes for your attention, leading to a decline in overall performance, elevated stress, trouble being creative, and a spike in stress hormones. Keep in mind that clutter does not need to be physical. Do you have a ton of unanswered emails sitting in your inbox? That is clutter too.
My goal for decluttering in 2020 is to do a One-A-Day declutter by committing to getting rid of one item each day.
4. Celebrate what you want to see more of.
Take time to stop and acknowledge everything that you’re proud of. You control what happens to you. By celebrating the positive things you are experiencing, you are helping to manifest more of it into your life. It is because of an inner ability that you have access to called “The Law Of Attraction”.
My goal in 2020 to help manifest great things in my life is to live life as if everything is rigged in my favor, & let anything negative just roll off of my back.
5. Use those leftover vacation days
Be sure to pay attention to when your vacation time at work runs out – it doesn’t always roll over! If you aren’t able to roll over that time, get some PTO on the calendar ASAP! You work hard for those benefits, and you deserve to use them.
My goal for 2020 when it comes to PTO isn’t about taking vacation days – I’m usually pretty good about taking days off to recharge. What I need to work on is taking days off when I’m ill. I always feel bad about taking sick days, since I know it puts an unneeded strain on my coworkers. In the long run, that just causes me to be less than 100% for longer than needed, and I likely will be getting others sick as well.
6. Let go of harboring resentments.
This was a big one for me in 2019, and it’s made me feel like I have so much weight lifted from my shoulders. Holding grudges only hurts the person harboring that negative energy. Some people were easier to forgive, simply by speaking my mind when I saw them to let them know what made me feel the way I did. For other people that was harder to do. I needed to reach down to that part inside of me that had that anger and resentment, and make a cognizant decision to let those feelings go. It is definitely easier said than done, and it is something that I am still working on.
My goal for letting go of resentments in 2020 is to simply continue the work that I put in this year.
“Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one.” — Brad Paisley.
7. Take photos with loved ones
Photographs are how we capture memories with those we cherish, but they’re also one of the best ways to preserve your family’s story, legacy, and love. Photograph your loved ones like today is going to be their last. Or photograph your loved ones like today is your last. Is there someone in your life, a family member or pet, that is elderly or sick? Get on the phone, hop in the car, do what you need to do to make this happen and go photograph them!! As soon as possible. One day someone you love will no longer be here and all you will have are the memories. I know this sounds obvious, but we often forget it in our day to day lives. It’s those photos of happier times that can help us along the process of working through our tears.
My goal for taking more photos in 2020 is to take more pictures WITH my friends and family. I have lots of pictures of them, but not many that include myself. Ilove taking pictures, but am always self conscious about including myself – or sometimes I don’t even think of it. I need to try to change that.
2020 just sounds good, doesn’t it? With such a symmetrical and pleasing sounding year, don’t let it go to waste. Make 2020 the year you look back on as the start of something amazing. The turning point for you in your life, your goals, everything. Seriously, guys…make 2020 your best year yet. Make it YOUR year.
I’m going to save you the speech on why you should save your money instead of gamble it away. I’m assuming that if you’re reading this article, you already know that the odds are against you, and that out of the millions of people who play only a handful win. SO, let’s get right to the good stuff!
While this blog post is about scratch off tickets, studying the odds of any lottery game is worth the time invested. Also, the games mentioned here are focused on the NY state lottery, but for those living in a different state you can find all of the same information on your states official lottery website.
Listed below are the current NYS scratch off tickets available. They are listed with the tickets with the highest odds first. In the event that there are two with identical odds, the cheaper ticket is listed first. I will try my best to keep this updated as new tickets are listed each month!
Please keep in mind that if a ticket has odds of “1 : 5” it doesn’t mean that every fifth ticket in a row wins, and it doesn’t mean that in a random sampling of 20 tickets with odds of “1 : 20”, one will definitely be a winner. It means that in the total number of tickets allotted, in all the stores across the state, that percentage of tickets are winners.
Buy the tickets with the best odds and the ones that have not paid out their large prizes. Check your state’s lottery website to find the games that have the most prizes currently available.
A word of advice in closing: Set a scratch-off budget and stick with it.Decide how much you can afford to spend on a scratch-offs every week. This absolutely has to be money you can afford to lose, because you will lose money playing the lottery longterm. It’s a guarantee.
This is personally something that I have struggled with – if I’m on a losing streak, I tend to keep telling myself that “the next ticket will be a winner!!” To help conquer that, I have started buying scratch off tickets in however many I planned in advance to buy, and not scratching them off until I get home.Have fun — post any winning tickets you get in the comments!!!
With the weather getting colder, darker and snowier, i know that it’s only a matter of time before my seasonal depression decides to make its yearly return. While looking through my phone to find things I hoped would brighten my mood when it starts to dip, I found all sorts of wonderful dog memes/snaps. They made me laugh, made me smile, and just made me feel good.
Take a peek for yourself – stop back any time you need a smile.
Well friends, it’s officially been TWO YEARS that I’ve been subscribed to BirchBox. I had tried out other beauty boxes in the past and always cancelled them as soon as I was able to, but this box is different. Even the boxes themselves are gorgeous!! I always try to upcycle the boxes – I’ve turned one into a candy storage box, I’ve used a few boxes and lids to organize my makeup drawers, one of them is used to keep all of my crayons, markers and colored pencils in one place, and currently I’m going through old pictures and using the boxes to keep them organized. I’ll have to remember to make another blog post to show you all of those!
This month’s BirchBox was all about detoxing, hydrating, and a little bit of Hollywood drama thanks to a beautiful eyeshadow! If you want to subscribe to BirchBox, click here. It’s cheap, too! If you don’t want a commitment, you can get a month-to-month plan for $15/month! A 6 month plan costs you $14/month, and a yearly plan is only $11/month. PLUS, if you use code DOUBLEFUN at checkout, you’ll get a FREE extra BirchBox! Full disclosure – if you sign up under my link, I get points added to my account which I can use to get additional products at a lower cost!
